Fully Clear gatherstate

Hi Guys,

I have a redhat server with lots of failed mirrored content. In IBMs documentation it mentions I may need to perform a full clearing of the gatherstate (server mirror). There is no information on how to do this. In theory I should be able to edit or delete bfemapfile.xml and GatherState.xml files as is recommended for relays but since I’m not 100% of the impact, i’m reaching out to you guys. I’m hoping this will solve my mirror request retry options on a subset of the content. If someone knows where mirror logging takes place that would also be appreciate as I can’t find any reference to this anywhere.

Thanks,

Peter

This document includes fixlets for resetting gather state of Windows and RHEL relays.

These probably should only be used at the direction of IBM support… just a forewarning.

Yes i had that document but I want to reset it on my root server not a relay and looking through the action script it’s only for relays.

Looks like there is a post here with some recommendations:

  1. Shut down the BES Server or BES Relay services.
  2. Clear the contents of this folder: …\BES Server\wwwrootbes\bfmirror\bfsites
    I recommend renaming the bfsites folder to ‘bfsites_bkg’ and then creating a new empty folder.
  3. Reset the GatherState.xml file located here: …\BES Server\Mirror Server\Inbox
    I recommend renaming the existing file and reinitializing it with the following text:
<?xml version= "1.0"?>
<GatherStatus> </GatherStatus>
  1. Reset the bfemapfile.xml located here: …\BES Server\Mirror Server\Inbox
    I recommend renaming the existing file and reinitializing it with the following text:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<URLtoID NextID="1"> </URLtoID>
  1. Important Be sure to set the URLtoID NextID to 1 in the bfemapfile.xml. The performance impact is entirely dependent on the value of this field.
  2. Restart the BES Server or BES Relay services.

Not sure where this is coming from and where to clear this. I have pages of failed downloads. The issue is wget pulls down these exes fine. I’m not sure why bigfix is failling these.

Thanks,

Peter

Are there any proxy configurations involved?

Hi Jason,

No proxy in place and if I wget on the root server it pulls down the bits so the server has access. It’s at the process level that it can’t download them.

Sorry for bringing back old threads.

Please see this updated procedure for Gather State Reset. There are extra steps as of BigFix 10.
