Deprecation announcement for the management extender:

As you know, with recent Virtual Endpoint Manager and Patches for ESXi releases, it is now possible to exercise the related use cases leveraging the VMWare Plugin delivered previously:

This makes the VMWare Management Extender redundant.
The VMWare Plugin has several advantages with respect to the Extender, including better performance, higher scalability, and correlation of discovered VMs with related BigFix agents.

Based on this replacement, we are now announcing the deprecation of the VMWare Management Extender that is delivered in the Virtual Endpoint Manager and Patches for ESXi sites.

This component will no longer be supported after June 30th, 2025 .
The content (fixlets and dashboard to manage the Extender) available in the mentioned sites will be marked as deprecated, and will be removed after the end of support date.

Please note: To leverage the VMWare plugin with Virtual Endpoint Manager and Patches for ESXi you need to be at BigFIx Platform version 10.0.12+ or 11.0.2+.
