The BigFix Team is pleased to announce a new release of BigFix Virtual Endpoint Manager.
The main reasons to upgrade to this release are as follows:
Virtual Endpoint Manager now leverages the BigFix VMWare Plugin!
Starting from this release, Virtual Endpoint Manager use cases on VMWare VSphere can be exercised using the BigFix platform VMware Plugin (as an alternative to the existing VMWare VCenter Management Extender).
Benefits of using the new Plugin include improved performance, scalability and better integration with the BigFix platform and ecosystem.
More information about the VMWare Plugin can be found here:
As of now, in order to leverage the VMWare Plugin, you need to be at BigFix Platform version 11.0.2 or above (VMWare plugin version 2.2.10).
BigFix team is working to extend the possibility to leverage the new Plugin to a wider set of BigFix platform versions; when that happens, the existing VMWare VCenter Management Extender will be deprecated.
Why Migrate to VMware Plugin ?
- The new plugin offers a 92% improvement in processing efficiency over the existing management extender.
- The new plugin also provides correlation between proxied and native device representations. This implies improved user experience and ease of management, where previously with the management extender the proxied and native devices are shown as separate entries.
Notes:
Existing users who are on BigFix V11.0.2, can consider migrating to the new VMware Plugin using the migration guide available in the attached link.
