Change location of download cache on BES

(imported topic written by wars10491)

Is there a way to change the location of the download cache on the main BES? We are running low on our system drive (where the cache currently resides) and would like to transfer the cache to another drive to prepare for a large software distribution occurring in the near future. Thanks!

Thanks Ben! I don’t know how I missed that earlier post.

After re-running setup and specifying the new drive for the download cache, is it safe to delete the old one (ie. C:\Program Files (x86)\BigFix Enterprise\BES Server\wwwrootbes)? We also decided during the setup to move the Webreports root folder onto the new drive as well. Would it be safe to delete the old wwwroot folder here as well (ie. C:\Program Files (x86)\BigFix Enterprise\BES Server\BESReportsServer\wwwroot)?

Yea. It should be safe (unless something went wrong an it was still using those files)

The server should be able to regenerate all the files in this directory from the database or by re-downloading them from the Internet. The one thing you might worry about is the “Uploads” folder if you do a lot of software distribution.

If you want to be safe, just copy the files somewhere else and then if you don’t see an issue, delete them later…
