On what OS is this happening?
If Windows, was the actionsite.afxm file present during the install? If so a copy of ActionSite.afxm should be in the folder.
If non-Windows, is the actionsite.afxm in the /etc/opt/BESClient folder?
What version of Windows OS and version of the client? Is any security/virus protection software running on this box?
Some times a security protection software can stop/prevent the client from starting. Check the Windows event logs to see if anything is logged when the start service is attempted.
and when i am trying to install BigFix webUI then it gives me error that it is not able to find actionsite.afxm in BigFix client folder but file is present in bigfix client folder.
Does this error relate to BigFix client not communicating properly?
Actually,I think I could have phrased that better. The Masthead file is NOT something you can modify manually, it is a cryptographicly signed document that functionally comprises your “License File” for BigFix.
You need to ensure that the BigFix server you are running is the one (by name or IP address) referenced by that file.
yes i will check the masthead file. I requested the license base on FQDN.
Actually it worked yesterday but i installed the client in C drive. so today uninstalled the client, deleted the folder from C drive and installed it again but then it didn’t work.
Usually I “Upgrade” the BES Client and don’t uninstall it. I’ve actually never tried to uninstall the BES Client on a server and reinstalling it. I’ve always just done upgrades.
My advice would be to install the client back to the C: drive and see if that resolves the issue.
Yeah. even i have always upgraded the BES Client and never uninstalled it but customer wanted to instal it in different drive. anyways i have a call tomorrow. i will check and will update you the progress.
Thanks for the support. Much appreciated
How did you uninstall? I have never had the need to uninstall the client off the server, but I have experienced problems uninstalling clients and always use the BESRemove utility now.
