The IBM Endpoint Manager team is releasing 9.2 Patch 4 (9.2.4.2) of the IBM Endpoint Manager platform. This release is only for the Mac agent and fixes an agent crash while refreshing the operating system’s property list files. There are no security fixes in this patch release.
Additionally this release is the first that has the QnA executable inside the BESAgent.app bundle (BESAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/QnA) so there is no standalone version of QnA anymore
Would it not be advised to upgrade the Mac Agents to 9.2.4 before upgrading the main server to 9.2.3? If can benefit from having the latest Mac agent on the clients with a server still running 9.0.835 (which we can plan to upgrade in production within the next month), we are willing to upgrade the agents. But if we should wait, we will wait.
You should upgrade the Mac agents to the latest version right away. It is not recommended, but it works just fine. We typically keep the Mac agents ahead of the root server due to compatibility issues on the Mac with the client itself.
This particular issue breaks the Mac agent, so it is an important update to have to prevent this issue from happening, but I don’t know when this issue was first introduced so it could be that you are on a version before it was a problem, so you might not need this update, but I think you do.
As a bit of background the issue has always been there but something new in Yosemite made plists behave a bit differently so definitely upgrade to 9.2.4 Mac agents on Yosemite
