How can I be able to resolve this issue.

When I enabled IPTABLE rule on firewall it start communicating.
Can anyone tell me how to resolve this issue without allowing IPTABLE rule.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Usman

Is DNS properly configured and available for both clients and the Bigfix server? They an nslookup from each to make sure the server name or alias is resolving properly.

one subnet hosts are on active directory which are working completely fine by adding bigfix hostname entry in DNS, while another subnet hosts are on WORKGROUPS.

Bigfix server is also configured on another workgroup subnet.

Issue is occurring only on workgroup hosts.

Does the machines that are on workgroups resolve the BigFix Server’s hostname?

Any firewalls between your clients and the root?

can your client access http://BIGFIX-PRI:52311/rd in their web browser?

Machines in the same subnet may be finding the address of the server if they are all Windows via WINS. This does suggest that you have a DNS issue regarding the name.

If BIGFIX-PRI is the name, do the endpoints have the correct domain name (company.com etc) on their search entries?

Also testing it like someone else has already mentioned by trying to ping the server or hit its RD page would be good tests from the failing endpoints.

Issue has been resolved , actually UDP packets from server to the client were blocked due to firewall restrictions as proper rule was not defined, and yes their was also a DNS issue.

Thank you guys for the help and the provided suggestions
