Windows XP Service Pack 3 Content Release

(imported topic written by jeremylam)

BigFix is pleased to announce that Fixlet messages for Windows XP Service

Pack 3 are now available. We strongly recommend that you review the Fixlet

message release notes and test the update in a non-production environment

before deployment to a production environment.

The XP SP3 offering contains a total of four Fixlet messages:

Fixlet message #13501 will become relevant on computers if enough free disk

space is available and the Remote Desktop Connection (RDP) 6.0 MUI pack is

not installed. The RDP 6.0 MUI pack must be uninstalled to deploy SP3, as

mentioned in the

XP SP3 Prerequisites

.

Fixlet message #13503 will become relevant if the RDP 6.0 MUI pack is

installed and offer to uninstall it.

Fixlet message #13502 will become relevant if Windows XP systems do not have

enough free space to install SP3.

Fixlet message #13601 deploys an additional update to XP SP3 systems that

have the MUI pack installed. This update will localize new components added

in SP3.

In addition, you can enable or disable windows Automatic Update delivery of

XP SP3 with tasks #399 and #401 in Enterprise Security. These tasks deploy

the Service Pack Blocker tool which will prevent systems with Automatic

Update from automatically downloading and deploying SP3 for up to a year.

This will allow systems to be migrated to SP3 in an orderly manner.
