Windows 64 bit Clients / Fixlet Relevance

(imported topic written by SystemAdmin)

We are finding that a few of the Fixlets / Tasks our there are not 64 bit “compliant”. In other words, the are showing relevance even though it is not relevant. Is anyone else seeing similar issues?

Can you be more specific as to what fixlets/tasks are showing relevant. Also include the relevance here in this post so that we can determine whether or not it should be relevant.

Two that come to mind are:

DEPLOYMENT: Anti-Virus Software Not Installed - Windows NT/2000/XP/2003

Shutdown Without Logon Enabled

I’m hesitant to post the relevance because they are so large, which would make the thread unreadable. Suffice it to say that instead of using “registry”, they should be using “native registry”, or at least it seems like that works.

Hey jspanitz,

We will check these out… if there are any more, please post the Fixlet title and ID and we can look at them…

Thanks!

Ben,

Excellent! What’s the normal turnaround time on something like this?

Just had a thought. A competitors product has a daily update “Info Box” that is part of the product. Could BigFix implement something like this in the management console so that we would see daily summaries of new fixlets, updated fixlets, etc?

Hi John…

You’re speaking my language! I want an “Info Box” too (more likely a dashboard), and I’ve been trying to get it for awhile. We probably need a few more votes before we take the time to implement such a feature.

Anybody else out there want to chime in? Would you check a ‘What’s new/changed’ dashboard regularly if one existed, or would it be cool for a bit and then never get opened?

Can you set this request up as a sticky so it appears at the top of the forum? I’m just worried that it is now hidden under a completely different topic.

For fixlet: DEPLOYMENT: Anti-Virus Software Not Installed - Windows NT/2000/XP/2003

I am assuming these x64 machines have anti-virus installed?

For fixlet: Shutdown Without Logon Enabled

We will update the fixlet.

Hey John,

Why don’t you start a new feature request thread. It would be a little strange if I posted it

I would definitely like the Dashboard feature you were speaking of, and im not quite sure if I had mentioned it already, but nonetheless, here i am doing it again.

Please make it so!

Thanks
