Ok this is STRANGE.
Windows server running v10.0.5 btw.
I have +14k .tmp files in my BES Server folder. There are constant new tmp files being created and destroyed. I can see them apear/disappear every 5-10 seconds.
When I opened several of the “abandoned” .tmp files, they all appear to be my Masthead. What would be causing my masthead file to be constantly rewritten/replaced like this?
my 2 cent … Would suggest to review the AV exclusion ( the same for other applications like Splunk, Sentinel, Carbon Black, CrowdStrike … ), should be the reason of the existence of ‘abandoned’ temporary files.
Were you able to find the reason for this? I just noticed today that we are getting 1 tmp file coming in and out of the “BES Server” directory. I am unable to get a copy of it to inspect it because of how fast it comes and goes.
Thanks for the response. This .tmp file is dropping in the following directory:
“Program Files (x86)\BigFix Enterprise\BES Server”.
It’s not dropping in a “Temp” folder. Temp files is getting created every 5-10 seconds and then disappears almost immediately.
We have been experiencing performance issues in our environment (Linux Clients only will stop checking in, which is super odd. AIX and Windows is not affected) and this is just one small thing I noticed to a lot bigger problem…
Was hoping to find a quick resolution for this smaller item.
