Please, could you tell me or share information about why ibm bigfix is better than microsoft sccm and ca itcm?

Wow can of worms :wink:

I have not used CA’s product, so I cannot speak to it.

Some things I can say for sure about BigFix over SCCM

  • Way easier to deploy BigFix
  • Way easier to scale BigFix
  • Only one MS SQL database needed no matter how big the environment
  • Way easier to troubleshoot BigFix
  • Agent support for just about every OS that you will encounter
  • Patching support for just about every OS that you will encounter
  • Near realtime state of the environment
  • Ability to query every online system for pieces of information in a very short period of time. For example, pull the result for a registry entry from 1000 systems in < 15 minutes (actually you could do 10k+ and about the same time)

I do not have an updated Gartner report (take it for what it is), but for 2015 both BigFix and SCCM where in the Leaders quadrant. CA was in the Niche Players. For the critical capabilities (I do not have this infor for SCCM and CA):
1st for Compliance and Security
1st for Global Enterprise
2nd for Total Endpoint Management

Rolling out BigFix agents is also very quick. There are quite a few out of the box options available for deploying the agent. If you use the remote deployment tool, you could easily deploy hundreds of agents in a few minutes. One of our server admins deployed about 350 in about 15-20 minutes.

I find that the ability to create a Custom Analysis to gather almost any information from a remote computer, no matter what the OS, is critical. Our ISO likes that ability as well.
