Where to place IEM relays for external www clients

Hi experts,

We are currently setting up an IEM server for both internal and external clients. The server is setup locally and we are planning to setup 2 relays for external clients that can only connect via open internet (they could be located in another company internal LAN). May i know if there is any guide on how it might be setup? Any consideration are to be made? Should be external relays be in DMZ or it could be in our local LAN?
