What is the Value of the Self Service Portal?

I don’t really see the value of the self service portal over a regular Offer. Does anyone know the advantage? I can see that the disadvantages of the SSP are: 1) difficult configuration and setup, 2) the user has to register devices, 3) the user has to log into the portal, and 4) some type of shortcut or URL has to setup of the end user. Whereas, the Offer interface just sits in the system try for the user to launch without having to log in.

I agree, offers are a lot less complicated and work pretty well.
