VMware Management Extender setting to report Host Devices only

Hello,

I was told that the VMware Management Extender can be configured to report Host Devices only.
We have the FULL Agent on all our VMs and don’t want or need to have duplicate endpoints in the console and reports.

The steps I was told to use were:

  • Stop the BES Proxy Agent service on the selected relay
  • Remove any unwanted ESXi Hypervisor Virtual Machine device types from the Console
  • Browse to the plugin folder \BigFix Enterprise\Management Extender\Plugins\VMware ESXi 1\plugin
  • Modify vcenter-plugin-settings.txt to set VIRTUAL_ENDPOINT_MANAGER=“0”
  • Remove device reports from \BigFix Enterprise\Management Extender\Plugins\VMware ESXi 1\DeviceReports
  • Start the BES Proxy Agent service

But doing this doesn’t stop the Virtual Servers from being listed.
Has anyone else managed to do this successfully.
NOTE: We are running BIGFIX 9.2 Patch 6

I have the same problem. I got the same procedure from a different source. I applied it and nothing change. VM Guests are still registering to the console.

I need to stop registering Virtual Endpoint Guests to reduce CPU utilization in the Relay Server.

Anybody tried something else?.
