VM UUID - query

Hello All,

What is the difference between VM UUID and Bios UUID?
Above query is creating a lot of confusion because BigFix VM UUID is not matching, what Vcenter is reporting but Vcenter VM UUID data is matching with BigFix Bios UUID.
So, My query is from where VM UUID is getting data? Any input would be a great help.

Depends where you are getting it from. Often the UUID you obtain depends on the method you request it. “Often” (such as in VMWare) the BIOS UUID matches the VM UUID but it is not required to. MDM types of UUIDs will be different and such.

Where are you getting the UUIDs from? Relevance? If so please paste it.

I have got the details basically BF is expecting the “vc.uuid” value from the vmx file.
