V7.0 Console/Server Upgrade Error

(imported topic written by SystemAdmin)

Hi,

I just did the upgrade from version 6 to version 7.

I am now getting an error when attempting to start the Big Fix Console -

'An error occurred while attempting to connect to the database: Database Error: The database being connected to has a database version of ‘Enterprise 1.58’, and this application requires a database version of ‘Enterprise 1.96’.

I see that is a known issue on this message forum - (http://forum.bigfix.com/viewtopic.php?id=1186) but there doesn’t appear to be a solution.

The suggested fix does not work - as my console still wants to upgrade.

Is there a known fix for this error?

Thanks

Markj

Hi markj,

When you upgrade from BES 5.1 to BES 7.0, you need to upgrade your database temporarily to BES 6.0 to complete the server upgrade path (other components upgrade straight from 5.1->7.0).

If you contact support, they can send you the BES Admin 6.0 upgrader to fix this issue.

Hi Ben,

Thanks for your prompt reply.

I have been speaking with my local distributor - but they are now not responding.

Here’s what I was advised

"To upgrade your database from BES 5.1 to BES 6.0, you will need to download and run a 6.0 BESAdmin utility against the database with the following command:

besadmin.exe /upgrade

You can download the utility from the following location:

http://software.bigfix.com/download/temp/BESAdmin-6.0.15.7.exe"

The problem I have is that doing this still presents with another error.

"ERROR: BESAdmin encountered the following error:

Database error: Invalid column name ‘AuthorizationLevel’.

Invalid column name ‘Comments’.

Statement(s) could not be prepared."

Hi mark,

I think you should contact our support at http://www.bigfix.com/contact/index.html and we can lead you through the process.

Thanks for that Ben.

I did just that and they were very helpful.
