Using local repository for patching Solaris 11 target machines

Dears,
Dears,
IBM has confirmed that Download Cacher Tool does not work for Solaris 11.

If we create a new local repository will we be able to patch solaris target machines using this local repository??

Do we need to manually download and update the SRUs in the local repository??

Will the repository require internet access or will it use the download plugins??

Customer is asking me what advantage will it give to him using this method…since he is already using their local repository for patching Solaris 11.

Can anyone please suggest??

hi @ani1214

The best method to do patching of solaris is via local repository.

If you create a local repository then you will have to give full internet access to the local repository and update the repo with the latest package. SO you will have to manually download the package and keep it on the repository and assign the repository to the system and then deploy the package.

If you are not using the local repository and are using the normal plugin method then you will have to provide internet access on both the systems Repository and the system on which you are patching.

Even thought you are using local repository download plugin will be used for the patching purpose.

The advantage of using local repository is that the patching time will be less and giving the internet access to the system and repository will not be required.
