Using clientsettings.cfg with a manual upgrade

Is there a way to force the client installer to use a clientsettings.cfg file during a manual upgrade of a client from version 7.x to 8.1.617? My testing has shown that the file is ignored when running the .exe on a machine with a previous version installed.

I don’t think there is… but if you already have the agent installed, can’t you just send client settings with the normal client settings options?
