Upgrading from v10.0.9.21 to v11 with ODBC v18, any known issues?

Hello everyone,

We are unable to make the SQL connection when running the upgrade and get the following error:

I am thinking there’s something with odbc v18 that’s not allowing the connection. And yes, connectivity works between root and sql server

Anyone have seen this before?

Edit: we dont use a cert

Not sure if this will help or if this is the reason for the problem you’re facing, but “technically” OBDC driver versions of the 18.x variety are not supported yet. The most recent versions we support right now are of the 17.x family.

BigFix v10 and BigFix v11 support ODBC Driver 17.x only.

@dmccalla so you think a viable recommendation would be to downgrade to v17 (we have exported registry keys and C:\Windows\System32\msodbcsql17.dll still exists in server) and then try the upgrade again? Thanks

We reverted to 17 and the sql connected successfully.

So if for any reason you’re on 18 with bf 10 it will fail to connect during the sql portion of the setup.
