Upgrade to 9.0 or 8.2

(imported topic written by MBARTOSH)

We were going to upgrade to 8.2 from 8.1, but now that 9.0 has been released, should we wait for 9.0 to stabilize and then go directly to 9.0?

Hi MBARTOSH,

I recommend you to upgrade to 9.0 (when stabilized if you’d like to) because the bug fixes from now on will be shipped more frequently as the patches of 9.0. Also basically IEM 9.0 has already included some bug fixes since the last patch of TEM 8.2 was released.

What’s your concern? I expect the above will be some help with you.

Thanks.

I always question the first release of any major release. The following patch release, I find, typically fixes any critical bugs found in the first iteration of a major release, just my experience. I am super impressed by the mailboxing feature in 9.0. I was tailing a client log (client connecting directly to server) and saw the action hit the client before the take action dialog even disappeared in the console.

Tip: Ensure that you upgrade relay components ahead of client components to ensure relays do not break during upgrade.

if your’re worries about installing the new major release of v9, a minor upgrade to v9 is suppose to be released in May.
