Updates for Mozilla Firefox 64 bits

Hello

Is there a reason why the updates for Mozilla Firefox are only available for the 32 bits version ?

We have noticed that the 64 bits version isn’t covered and would require a custom fixlet to update.

Thanks

Hi,

As far as I know, there is no plan to support FireFox 64-bit yet. Previously, some plugins do NOT work well with x64 FireFox and FireFox (Vendor) recommends x32 application. And hence BigFix does not cover the 64-bit part.

If customer is interested in x64 Fixlets, please contact IBM support and open RFE to request it.

Regards,
Sylvia

I’de +1 for this as now the stub installer detects bitness of the OS and installs the relevant version. Now that the regular version performs more or less the same as the 64 bit in relation to the plugins etc.,

We just noticed that BigFix only patches/installs 32bit Firefox. I’m upvoting on the RFEs.

Hello! Mozilla now recommends installing 64bit, and per Mozilla’s site, started switching people from 32bit to 64bit in v56.0.1 on October 9, 2017. Per Mozilla, the 64bit version also has better performance and crashes about 39% less than the 32bit version.

Support for Firefox 64bit would be very much appreciated given that Mozilla now recommends the 64bit version and per Mozilla also by default downloads/installs the 64bit version when being setup.

Any updates on this topic from IBM? Update fixlets for Firefox 64-bit would be very much appreciated.
