We have reporting only Linux/Unix Servers in console where some of showing with FQDN but some just showing their XYZ hostname, why is it so ? Is there anyway we can make them with their FQDN (XYZ.Hi.com) or just with their hostname only (XYZ)
Does anyone have Idea from where property “Computer Name” getting hostname details or actually how its getting that name.
I also tried “DNS name” property that also different from “computer name”.
Actually requirement is to have one format either FQDN or just hostname.
when you run the command “hostname” from your Linux/unix server, you should see the same computer name that BigFix is showing in the console. Many of our Linux/unix servers have the hostname configured as the fqdn, rather than the short name it should be. So then we have to update the server’s hostname from FQDN to short name.
