TRC Server on Linux - /etc/init.d/trcserver permissions

(imported topic written by atlauren)

Hello,

Having just installed the IEM Remote Control Server 9.1.0.0026 on Linux (RHEL 6.5), there are problems and inconsistencies with the init script:

  1. The file is /etc/init.d/trcserver, not ibmtrcserver as indicated in the manuals.
  2. Permissions for /etc/init.d/trcserver are 774, not 755 as in all other /etc/init.d/* files.

Cheers,

Andrew

Hey,

Thanks for posting about this - you’re right, the service script name does not match the documentation. The documentation should be changed to match the script/service name - I’ll raise this internally.

The permission difference should not have any serious side effects, the only downside being that a normal user will not be able to execute service trcserver status (or /etc/init.d/trcserver status) - as this will return an error saying that the script is not executable. This should be changed, and I’ll let the developer who works on the server installer know to have a look with the idea to change these permissions.

Thanks,

Jeremiah

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. It’s always nice to see a bug report is valid, and appreciated. I’ll look forward to the changes in a future update.
