TRC Right Click option not available

(imported topic written by JRigas)

Hey everyone,

I have done 2 TEM + TRC installations the past 2 weeks, and with both the installations, the right click option for Tivoli Remote Control wasn’t added when installing the controller.

I have also checked the registry, and the settings aren’t there.

The Controller installation task did complete succesfully.

All TRC analyses are also activated.

Does anyone know why this isn’t working (anymore)?

Hi Jani,

There are a couple of things to keep in mind when deploying the controller to a machine that already has the TEM console installed in order to get the right-click menu. In particular, the right-click menu is created in HKEY_CURRENT_USER using the RunAsCurrentUser.exe tool, which means that there needs to be a logged user on that endpoint you are deploying the controller too. Also it can be challenging if it’s a multi-user system with several users logged on, since the one user that gets the menu entry might not be the one you were expecting.

This might explain why you are not seeing anymore, but if you want to provide more details about the environment and maybe TEM client logs, we can have a look and see if we can figure out what is going on.

Hey Jose,

Thanks for the info.

When I was installing the controller, I was logged in at the TEM server, where I was deploying it to.

I will try to get you some logs, but I think I checked those, and everything seemed to have run fine.

I also noticed that, when I would try to uninstall the controller again, this would fail. Because the key doesn’t exist in the registry.

This was also on 64bit systems, if that is of any help.
