Tableau Software Catalog signatures in BFI

Hi,

Is there a way to find out what Software Catalog signatures are available for Tableau? I have a user that is seeing a couple of servers that show Tableau with the Software Classification Report, but they are seeing many more servers when they check the Package Data Report, filter for Tableau in Package Data Name, and filter for Recognized equal to No.

From the BFI UI, navigate to Reports → Catalog → Signature. In the resulting report, Configure the filter for Component Name contains Tableau.

I see that there are entries in the Software Catalog for Tableau, but when I perform a Package Data Report using the filter:

  • Name > Contains > Tableau
  • Recognized > equal to > No

I am seeing numerous rows reported

But for the Software Installations Report using the filter:

  • Present > equal to >Yes
  • Suppressed > equal to > No
  • Publisher Name > contains > Salesforce

I only see one row returned

So, it looks like the Software Catalog isn’t detecting a fair number of systems with Tableau installed.

What version of Tableau are you expecting to find? There is a signature which detects Tableau packages for versions 8, 9, 10, and 20.

What do you see if you remove the Recognized > equal to > Yes from the filter? (I would add the Recognized column to the view to see if some are recognized and some aren’t).

I see recognized value of Yes for Version 22.4.934.

I see recognized value of No for Versions:

I presume this is for Tableau Desktop. Your results seem inconsistent to me. I’d recommend you open a Case with HCL for them to review the results with you.
