SQL upgrade (Post upgrade configurations)

We have ILMT and BigFix with their databases hosted on a single server.
Our DB team has upgraded SQL from 2008 R2 Express to 2016 Standard. Can I know if I should update the password in server.xml file post upgrade of SQL. Apart from this are there any other configurations that should to be performed.

You only need to update the password in server.xml if you are using SQL Authentication, and have changed the database credentials in SQL.

We have ILMT and BigFix hosted on the same server, DB team provided us a new SQL Authentication account and told to use it.
How to ensure that we update the username and password successfully.
We can find server.xml and database.yml in ILMT folder paths. What are the relevant changes that needs to be made. Do we need to change anything on BigFix end too? we cannot find any server.xml file for BigFix. Please help me on this. Thanks

So you were using SQL Authentication before, and will continue using SQL Authentication, just with a different account/password?
