SQL 2008 - Missing Office Security Fixlets

(imported topic written by SystemAdmin)

After installing SQL 2008 SP1 on Windows 2008 R2 64bit, we ran Windows Update and it shows to Important Updates for Office 2007 that do not show up in BigFix.

The first is KB954326 - Security Update for the 2007 Microsoft Office System (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=4B656FE8-6253-490C-A81A-E4E8F0BB58D2&displaylang=en), then there is KB972581 - Security Update for the 2007 Microsoft Office System and KB967642 - MS09-062 (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=4B656FE8-6253-490C-A81A-E4E8F0BB58D2&displaylang=en).

There are a few other non security updates listed as well and we understand they would not show in BigFix. Anyone else experiencing similar results?

Is office 2007 installed on your system or is it just coming off of a SQL Server 2008 install? I am thinking this has less to do with Windows 2008 R2 x64 and more to do with the SQL install.

Maybe some office 2007 components are installed with SQL 2008?

The server just has the SQL 2008 install. No Office install was done. So your assumption is correct that the SQL install is laying down some common components.
