Solaris 11 Patch failed

Usage and Config Patch

I have tried Solaris 11 patching of Oracle Support Repository by BigFix using Fixlet method after status of running & then pending restart stats I restated then I updated as Failed.

Following configuration has been done.

  1. Soalris Plugin credentials configured in Plugin dashboard.
  2. Solaris 11 Site enabled
  3. Also RHSM plugin enabled
  4. Cache size for the server increased

I have tried with different SRUs on two different machines. Every time I get same status. Client Logs are attached.

From the documentation (IBM Documentation):

I see you tried to deploy Solaris 11.2 Support Repository Update 11.2.12.5.0, so if you follow the documentation, you should first deploy Update Repository for Solaris 11.2 SRU 11.2.12.5.0.

I have already followed these steps for fixlet method.

The reason I found is that the endpoint where I am pushing patch is not linked with Oracle repository, it is connected with custom repository of that environment.

If you are using a custom repository, you’ll need to follow the instructions listed in the same documentation regarding how to deploy from a local repository.

I am using fixlet method

Hi Zevanty,

I am facing some issues while patching Solaris 11 target machines in my environment.
There is NO internet connection on the target machines.
I have registered and configured the latest solaris download plugins.

Now when I apply a fixlet to the solaris endpoint:
it changes the state from not reported>>evaluating>>pending restart>>failed

I checked the solaris plugin logs and it shows (FATAL login error) and configured plugin has completed with exit code 1. I will work with the network team internally to resolve the login error.

We are using RHEL download plugins in our environment and we are able to patch them successfully.

I would like to know will this method work if the log in is successful for plugins??
Or is there any additional workaround that needs to be done?

Unless you are using a local repository, the endpoint must have internet connection. From the documentation: If you are using the repositories that are provided by Oracle or other publishers, your endpoints must be connected to the internet.

Your message doesn’t indicate whether you’re using local repository or not, so I’m assuming you are not.

Where shall we create the local repository? On the BigFix Server itself, since we have Internet access only on the Server.

Can we create a local repository on BigFix server and assign Solaris 11 endpoints to them or do we need a Solaris machine to create a local repository??

Since, the document does not provide with much details could you please help me?

Check the documentation on local repositories. It has a link to a different documentation page that explains the dashboard that helps register a local repository. In that dashboard documentation, it also has a link to Oracle’s website that explains how to create a local repository.

But in general, the machine should be a different machine than the BES Server. Internet connection should not be needed for a local repository.

We resolved the issue as while further troubleshooting the issue we found out that the location on which we were trying to assign the local repo, there the custom ports which we have assigned to the local repo were not opened. After making the relevant changes we were able to resolved the error.
