Please help. I’ve just installed the Bigfix client on my Solaris 10 machine and I am able to see it from our BES console. I am able to successfully apply “BES Support fixlets” on that machine.
However, when it comes to actual Solaris patches from “getupdates.oracle.com” using the default Bigfix Action script, I get this error:
Download error: “The only supported protocols are http, https, and ftp”
I’m thinking that maybe I need to put my oracle.com credentials somewhere in the script, but I can’t find anything on how to do that on the help pages. Please help.
For a few operating systems, we use Download Plugins to facilitate the download of content since the content requires authorization prior to downloading. The change in protocol (from https) is intentional so that the content may be handled properly by the server. Please use the “BES Relay/Server: Register Download Plug-in for Solaris” task to register and setup the plugin with your credentials and various other information so that you may be able to deploy the content.
GMS, thanks for the info, I’m sure that’s it. However, I’m trying to follow the instructions and I can’t.
The task, BES Server:Register Download plugin for Solaris is greyed out, and there are 3 tasks named like this. The instruction says, select this task then in the work area, select link to install Red Hat download Plugin. I don’t know where this work area is.
Anyway I just tried to run the BES Server:Register Download plugin for Solaris task. It asks me for username and password, however there are no servers selectable to apply this task.
You need a client installed on the root server or a relay for the content to be relevant, and the system in question needs to be subscribed to the site.
Is a TEM/BigFix client installed on the machine with the root server installed on it? A machine with a relay generally should have a client on it already. Another thing to check is that the machine is subscribed to the site (check the machine under the “Computers” node and scroll down to the “Subscribed Sites” section).
As it’s a bit hard to troubleshoot quickly and effectively via the forums, I recommend calling Support for assistance.
gms, Yes, the solaris server is subscribed to the Patches for Solaris site. I just don’t see it when I try to apply task #20:BES Server:Register Download plugin for Solaris.
