Software Distribution Results Analysis Impacting Evaluation Cycle

Hey folks, I have a current issue where my evaluation cycle is significantly slower on some clients that have minimum resources. I know that it will evaluate slower since the resources on those clients are limited, but it is very slow to evaluate/report.

Long story short, after I enabled the client debug log and used the profiler, it looks like the culprit is the Software Distribution Deployment Results Analysis. We use Software Distribution a lot and most client logs are 4MB, which looks like they are getting consumed by this analysis. I didn’t know this was activated but looks like it has been since we stood up the environment.

Does anyone know if disabling this analysis would affect using Software Distribution or anything like that? I don’t need the info from the analysis and can check on those logs on the clients. I don’t need them centralized.

Thanks in advance for any info regarding this.

UPDATE

After disabling this analysis, the evaluation/reporting are much, much faster. No clue that this analysis was even activated, and as we deployed more and more, the SWD logs grew and that analysis was wreaking havoc. All good now from what I can see. thanks

If for some reason you still needed the results of the analysis, you could create a custom copy and target the required endpoints, or you could decrease the frequency of evaluation (which is probably the real culprit behind the slow evaluation cycles). Out ot the box, the software distriibution deployement results relevance is evaluated every report. In my opinion, this is not helpful for long standing deployments like yours, absent some mechanism to prune the log file on a regular basis.
