SIE installation package needed

(imported topic written by SystemAdmin)

We will be utilizing spb applications at my company, so I need all my endpoints to have the Software installation Engine on them. There is a fixlet to install this, but I would like to get it into the image.

I obtained the installer, but it is in a format I am not familular with (.bfz). Does anyone have any experience with installing these? Installation commands, etc?

Hey weberch,

The SWD Fixlet site will put the SIE in place when you deploy an SPB… The .bfz file is a “bigfix zip” file that can be extracted using the BigFix “extract” command or the bfarchive tool…

I fear I am still confused by this. When I build a package using an SPB, I note that relevance is looking for the existence of the SIE on the endpoint, in order to be relevant.

My goal is to have the SIE in our image in order be prepared. I am thinking about the SIE fixlet as a policy, but I am looking al having a lot of policies in TEM as it is.

Oops… Sorry… The actual way it works is that you can use the “Client Manager for TCM” site to deploy the SIE to each of the computers (or deploy it to your image)…
