Server tasks not showing as applicable

(imported topic written by semaber91)

So I’ve installed the BES software on our server (BES Server) and on a laptop (BES Client). Proceeding to ensure the Core Protection Module is set-up on both parts is where we have problems.

The “Core Protection Module - Install Server Components” task is greyed out. I do not know why. I thought perhaps someone had already run it but that’s not the case - nothing in the task history. When I tried looking at other server-related tasks, all of those are greyed out too.

There is no firewall running on the server either.

Can anyone recognise what may be happening here? I’ve pretty much exhausted the Internet for help!

The most common cause of these sorts of problems is that the server wasn’t subscribed to the site. Make sure the CPM site is not set to “no computers” or to a group that doesn’t the server.

Beyond that, the best way to debug this is to run the relevance expressions for this fixlet by hand on the server using the relevance debugger. This will let you know which expressions are returning false, and will let us investigate further.

Thanks for getting back to me.

I have double checked the subscriptions and each one is set to All Subscribers.

I also ran the relevance debugger and all them were coming back as True - so I guess it should be available.

Now I really am confused.

Maybe try to clear the console cache…

Unfortunately no success there either.

It’s definitely all the server tasks/fixlets that are greyed out, not just the Install Server Components task. I tried to increase the cache to add new sha1 files and tried the fixlet for this, unfortunately I wasn’t allowed this way as the fixlet was greyed out.
