I am creating a file distribution fixlet for a self-service portal in a mac OS environment.
I do not want to install silently. I want to install it on the UI screen.

I think this may not actually be a Self-Service portal question – presumably if you get the GUI install working with a regular fixlet, you can just push that fixlet to the SSA as an offer.
What is the software you’re trying to install with a GUI? You might need to use AppleScript to get it to open the installer interactively.
BigFix almost always suppresses popups, so most likely you won’t be able to do this using BigFix.
