Search Fixlets by KB article number

(imported topic written by olsonc5891)

The server admins in my company run Windows update on the various builds we have in our environment to get the baseline they want to use. They supply me with a list similar to the one below:

Security Update for Windows Server 2003 (KB975562)

Security Update for Windows Server 2003 (KB979559)

Security Update for Windows Server 2003 (KB980218)

Microsoft displays the KB article number in Windows update, not the MS number. When I try to find the same article in the fixlets, they are listed as MS numbers.

MS10-035: Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer - IE 8 - Windows Server 2003 SP2

Now I have to go to every KB article to get the MS number. Is there an easier way to corrolate the two indexing numbers? Can I get Bigfix to display the KB article number?

Please advise…

Thanks,

Chris

BigFix Fixlet messages contain the KB article number in either the Source ID field or the description.

A search on Fixlets that have “KB975562” in the Name or Body fields will return the MS10-033 quartz.dll Fixlets.

A search on Fixlets that have “979902” in the Source ID field will return all the MS10-033 Fixlets, including the quartz.dll, Windows Media Format Runtime, etc. components.

Thank you Jeremy! I should have dug a little deeper on this.
