Restricting BigFix Cloud Plugin Discovery to Windows Instances Only

We are using Cloud Plugin Management through WEBUI to discover AWS instances, and the configuration is working as expected—all AWS instances are being discovered in BigFix. However, we would like to restrict the discovery process to only Windows machines; currently, it is also discovering Linux and other operating systems.

Could you please advise on how to prevent the discovery of non-Windows OS instances? Since we have an automated task that installs the BigFix client on all discovered machines, continuing to discover other operating systems could impact our BigFix licensing costs and make the environment more difficult to manage.

We would appreciate any guidance or solutions to ensure that only Windows machines are discovered through the cloud plugin process.

Short answer is that you cannot (it’s all or nothing). I have an idea for it to allow filtering but it is yet to be committed to or delivered (welcome to vote for it and possibly nudge it forward). One workaround if end-users are what you would like to remove it from is to exclude it on role levels and that will make them not visible but the data will be very much still there and any master operators/admins will still see them.
