RESOLVED - How can BigFix be used to ensure compliance with HIPPA?

I have been using BigFix for a while now, but I am not sure what I need to do for clients in the Healthcare field who need to comply with HIPPA. Can this be done with BigFix alone, or does there need to be an installed Healthcare application on the corporate network? And, if there is such an application, how do I get BigFix to monitor that? Thanks.

I don’t know anything about HIPPA but if it involves setting security settings and auditing them, then it can definitely be done with BigFix.

You might have to write some analyses and tasks to do this yourself, or you might be able to leverage some of the existing content in the Security Compliance Module.

It is really a separate question to ask, does the Security Compliance Module have complete auditing and reporting for HIPPA compliance, which would mean the least amount of effort? I don’t actually know for sure.

I suggest you contact your BigFix Sales team for details of what’s provided. There are certainly folks who are required to comply with HIPPA using BigFix on their infrastructure.

HIPAA is terribly complex, and not something I’d want to discuss in a forum like this. It’s WAY off topic.

Bigfix can play a very strong supporting role when it comes to HIPAA compliance but I agree with @gearoid, you should contact your IBM representative for more information.

I manage BigFix for a Healthcare System, and it is only part of our overall HIPAA efforts.
