ZaK, I like the report and it will be very useful for providing this information to a vendor who is requesting this for a software audit. By chance are you able to create a 2nd report with additional 3 columns for Location Tree, User Name, and Computer Name (one entry per software title). This will allow us to go back and find out who has the software installed.

do you need to have an existing analyses or the app to be a globally retrieved property first? What is dependancies?

I ran this as an admin account and can see results, but run as a non admin web reports account for the same application no results come back.

The attached screenshot is what i see when i run as a non admin.

Stacy Lee,

I activated globally the analyses for “Application Information (Windows)” in the Site column “BES Inventory and License”

Hey guys,

kurtgp - This report just gathers information straight from the analysis, and does not look at the computer. To get the results on a per-computer basis slows things down, and requires a complete rewrite of the relevance expression, so we wont be seeing these features added to this report. I’m not entirely sure what you mean by “Location Tree”, but web reports can only gather information from properties and fixlet/action results, so this value would have to be returned by a property some where.

Stacy - I’m working on updated this report for 7.0, and I’ve noticed some odd anomalies similar to what you have described. I will let you know when I iron them out.

Is there anything new on this? I don’t see this report as an option in my web reports and I do have the analysis mentioned earlier in the thread activated. Is there some other way to run an “ad-hoc” or “on-demand” query for a given application? It would be nice to just have one query that took input from the user at run-time.

Is there anyway to get the serial number out of this report to?

I would like to stick the application to a installed serial number.

(imported comment written by BenKus)

Did you mean the serial number of the computer or the serial number of an application (if the application has a serial number).

Ben

(imported comment written by Fredrik23)

I mean the Serial number of the application, say for example Abode Acrobat. This to eaiser have control of licensing.

(imported comment written by BenKus)

Hey Fredrik,

The serial number of applications is not standardized and many applications obfuscate it. You can collect the serial number through BigFix for a specific application with a custom property, but it is not collected by default.

Due to a forum bug, I have to reattach the report here, instead of in the original post.

Sorry for the confusion.

(imported comment written by kebulm91)

I don’t see where I can download this report from.

(imported comment written by kebulm91)

I was able to download. Thanks Ben.

Has anybody modifed this report yet to allow you to drill down to a list of computers that has the specific versions of that installed app, similar to the analysis reports that you can create? Specifically modify the count value to a link that will return the computer list.

I’m able to get what I need from another report but my user population is requesting the enhancment to this report so I hope that someone else has beat me to it so I can save myself some work.

thanks,

-Gary

I’m looking for the same modifications MrFixit is requesting. Anyone up to the challenge?

(imported comment written by BenKus)

Hey guys,

This application report is deprecated and the DSS Software Asset Management product will be able to deliver much more extensive and useful application reporting (including sophisticated drill-down like you are asking about):

http://forum.bigfix.com/viewtopic.php?id=2612

I would strongly recommend you look at DSS SAM if you have application reporting needs.

Ben

Did anyone expand this like MrFixIt wanted? I contacted our sales rep to see pricing on DSS but don’t think management will want to buy… Would be great if someone got it working via web reports.

Thanks!

Also, does the attached report in post 11 work with version 8?

(imported comment written by life00891)

Hi to All

(imported comment written by radnor91)

tscott

Also, does the attached report in post 11 work with version 8?

Interested to know the same thing. Any way to do this with v8?

My problem is that I can create a report showing each computer and what software it has installed, but what I need to do is run a report of what software is out there and a list of computers it is installed on, per application.

Any ideas?
