Removing a Group Created by a Deleted Console Operator

(imported topic written by alex91)

I am trying to remove an empty computer group that was created by a different console operator whose console login has already been removed. When I attempt to remove the group, it goes through the normal prompts for when removing a group but results in the following error:

Unexpected Error

The BigFix Enterprise Console has encountered an error and is unable to complete your request.

If you choose to ignore this error, the application may be in an inconsistent state. If you choose to quit, you will lose any unsaved changes.

The diagnostic message is:

Attempt to propagate an operator site with operator number of 0.

Clicking either option does not result in the group being removed. From the error, I’m assuming the cause is that the group was created by a console operator account that does not exist anymore. My account is a Master Operator that can add and remove any groups created by me or by other existing console operators. Not sure if this helps but the group I am trying to remove is a manual group that does not have any computers in it anymore.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to remove groups like this?

Thanks!

Strange… I haven’t seen that before… you probably need to contact support to investigate further…

You may need to delete the hidden actions for that user and the group.

Just wanted to follow up on this issue, i was the last to comment on it… And of course i hit this issue this week.

To resolve this, you need to send a change on the manual group. The effective way i am using it to edit group properties. select the second radio button. enter password, send changes…

Then your able to remove the group,

i ran a sql query that showed i had 150 groups that were orphaned by none operator accounts.
