Remote console

(imported topic written by sinucus)

I’ve been trying for nearly a day now to install the console on a Win 7 x64 computer with no luck. I then tried to install on a Win 2003 x86 computer with no luck. Are there any definitive install guides for the console? I’m now finally stuck at

SQL Server

Login failed for user ‘SYSTEM’. The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.

The following link is dead.

after you install the TEM console, you need to modify the ODBC connection to point to your database.

I fixed my own problem. I’ll list below the problems I had.

  1. Windows firewall was on. Added exception for TCP 1433

  2. x64 OS was used so I needed to modify the ODBC connection with the correct Data Sources (ODBC) tool. “C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe” vs. Administrative Tools->Data Sources

  3. Mixed mode authentication was turned off. Changed HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQLServer\LoginMode to 2 on my BES server

  4. My DNS is turned off on my console so the masthead imported the FQDN of the bes server so I had to modify the ODBC settings to use IP instead of DNS.

Hopefully this helps someone else.

Thanks sinucus! That type of information is always very useful… you’d be surprised how many people silently take advantage of tips like that.
