Remote Assistance - Again!

(imported topic written by brannonb91)

We are “un”-doing things that have been done in the past in order to use Windows Remote Assistance. Still having problems. I cannot stress the importance of this for us as we have hundreds of customers but only a handful of staff. We’ve created a Baseline and everything in there is running fine and working.

RemoteAssistance.htm is copied to the correct location

All Services needed are Started and Set to Automatic

File & Print Sharing is Enabled

RDP and Remote Assistance is Enabled and showing the correct helpers

All of this has been verified.

No matter what we’ve done to the machine, I continue to get this:

“The Remote Server Machine does not exist or is Unavailable”

Can someone please give me some insight? I swear everything is working as it should be according to all web posts regarding this subject.

Thanks so Much

Brigetta

Hi Brigetta,

Can you please check the personal firewall on these computers and see if it is blocking remote assistance? You can temporarily disable the personal firewall and see if it works… if it is the firewall, you can either set a Group Policy to create the exception or I can help you with a Fixlet to make the exception.
