Relevance to identify relay activity

(imported topic written by SystemAdmin)

Hi everybody.

I need to shutdown a client/relay if is not receiveing/sending packages: is there a property or something else do identify that situation ?

Thanks in advance.

There is a set of rotating log files for the client. I’ve never looked for it but I assume there is one for the Relay as well.

Can you use these to determine your “not receiving/sending packages” condition? You would likely need to do so from outside TEM since I can’t think of a way for TEM to monitor its own inactivity. That would be activity, resulting in a non-sequitur.

Question, why do you want to shut them down? This would tend to interfere with normal TEM operation. The Client and Relay consume very little resources while running, and shutting down a Relay without removing it from TEM first can leave other systems that report to it non-manageable via TEM until they decide to look for a new Relay or the TEM server itself.
