Relevance of fixlet 42025 "Update WinRE version to Registry for Safe OS dynamic updates"?

Hi

I scheduled fixlet 42025 “Update WinRE version to Registry for Safe OS dynamic updates” to run overnight.

In “Actions”, I see that the fixlet ran correctly on all active computers. They now show a status of “Completed” and an “Exit Code” of 0.

My issue is that the fixlet still shows as relevant for all the computers. How to quickly identify computers that did not run the fixlet already?

FYI that is a “Task” rather than a “Fixlet”.
That one is built to probe some information from WinRE, and save the results to the Registry.
Without digging too far into it, the very likely case is that this output is then used in the Relevance for some other dynamic updates. Similar to the UEFI DBX updates, or ESU Licensing, there is some applicability for other updates that are too expensive to leave running all the time in Relevance. Instead you use this Task, likely reapplying at some interval like once a day or once a week, to probe the information from the system and save it to the Registry.

This Task should remain Relevant, and if you are using whatever feature this provides you should run it periodically.
Also check the Description on this task, there’s a little bit there.

Hi Jason.

Thanks for the reply.

So I guess that “5059442: Safe OS Dynamic Update for Windows 11 Version 24H2 - Windows 11 Version 24H2 - KB5059442 (x64)” will be able to find relevant computers according to the result of this task?

I think so, yes, that’s how I’m reading it. I’m not totally familiar with it though, so if you can let us know I look forward to hearing results.
