Rejecting Connections to a Relay if More Than X Distance

(imported topic written by SystemAdmin)

We have a relay located at a site which has a very slow WAN connection. To prevent endpoints that do not reside at this location from choosing its relay, we would like the relay to reject endpoints that are attempting to connect to it that have a distance greater than 1.

We had set this option on another install a few years ago, but looking at the Configuration Settings, we cannot find the setting. Is this option still possible?

I think I found it and I wonder why it isn’t listed in the Configuration Settings.

_Enterprise Server_ClientRegister_MinHopEstimateLimit - the relay will reject clients that try to register with their conservative hop count estimate greater than this number.

what is difference between “conservative hop count estimate” and “liberal hop count estimate” for these settings ?
