Regional Info

(imported topic written by SystemAdmin)

In our BF deployment we have created automatic groups that sort various locations into regional groups, Americas, Asia and Europe. We then use these regional groups as filters for patch and AV information. So for example we have 3 reports for AV status and 3 reports for Patch status. Is there a way to create a property that will do this for us. That way we only have one AV report or one Patch report. What I am trying to envision looks something like this

Computer Name Loacation Region

XXX Tampa, FL Americas

YYY Singapore Asia

ZZZ London Europe

HI,

this should be possible with a custom report, however this stuff is so tricky that i always spending hours only to reach the famous 80%

Hey pschwartz / Martin,

In your BES Console, you can go to “Wizards > Location by Subnet”. This will allow you to create a property that map subnets to Location without needing to make Automatic groups.

You can also apply the same wizard to create a “Region” property. You can do this by mapping subnets to regions OR you map Locations to Regions. If you want to map locations to regions, you can choose the fourth option in the wizard, and then the custom relevance in the wizard to something like

value of setting “Location by Subnet” of client

(make sure the name of the location property matches in the relevance).
