Refresh/rescan from BESClient Bounce on Linux?

Hello,
On our windows systems when you bounce the BESClient service, the system does a force refresh on all analysis. On our linux systems, this doesn’t happen.
Is it possible to force linux systems to do a refresh when being restarted/ bouncing the besclient?
Thanks

No, it does not! Following a BESClient service restart, whether on Windows or not, BESClient re-initializes itself, gathers content, performs any outstanding actions if no dependence exists, and post a report.

When you perform a force refresh, the BigFix client is explicitly instructed to quickly update its status, re-evaluate all applicable fixlets/tasks/Analysis/RP etc, and send a full report to BigFix server.

You can refer to below wiki for option related to force refresh but please note its not recommended to send force refresh frequently to all devices, it will produce large reports & can impact the BigFix infra performance.

BESClient keep on doing content evaluation in the background (depending on sleepideal/workideal settings) & if you think something is slow & not processing, consider:

  • checking UDP connectivity
  • enabling command polling
  • enabling persistent connection
  • check analysis reporting timings
  • enable debug logs or usages profiler to understand the delay reporting trade for any specific time-consuming content
