Does anyone know the following:
Is it OK to put the BES Client into a WIM or GHOST SYSPREPPED IMAGE?
We have done so and our testing appears to be OK.

Yes, it is appropriate to be putting the BES Client onto computer images and managing them through BES.
If you are saving an image to be re-used multiple times, you should follow this KB article when imaging the BES Client:

What about if Trend is in the image too? I suspect it is fine, but would like confirmation.

Yep… Putting the Trend components on the image with the BigFix Agent should be fine too…
