RDP into Workstation with BES Console open data is scrambled

(imported topic written by rharmer91)

To do some patching for 08-076 over this weekend I remoted into my XP SP3 workstation. FYI - We recently upgraded Server, Relays and Clients to 7.1.

While looking at a set of machines which are relevant, I sorted on Subnet. After that - data is all messed up including headers, etc. The strange thing is, if I copy the data and paste it into Excel, it looks just fine.

Nevermind… not a BigFix Issue. I did a print screen and it looks perfect.

Very strange. (Left the post here in case someone else runs into this)

I occasionally run into the same thing. I think RDP isn’t redrawing the screen correctly. Mstsc since XP SP3 behaves differently, new sitches, etc.

This drives us crazy. Seems to be worse if the user has had to remote in using VPN.

Has anybody validated that this issue is corrected with a specific version of the RDP client? Has there ever been a Microsoft KB posted on the issue?

thanks,

This is an RDP issue… You can replicate it if you play around with Windows Explorer or other Windows controls…

I hate it too… I find that if I resize the columns, it often helps…

I’m going to try the new RDP 7.0 client (KB969084) on XP to see the issue still exists, since I haven’t seen it on my Windows 7 system yet.

Do Citrix users or other 3rd party RDP products experience similar problems?

thanks,

This happens to me constantly. Other guys here at work use RDP and they say it never happens to them. /shrug

So far the newest RDp 7.0 client may have included the fix for this.

Myself and a few others have switched and even those that had a constant issue with it have been impressed with the imporved speed and the what appears to be a fix for it. If it not a complete fix it definitely reduces the occurance.

Installed the new client about a month ago and so far this hasn’t happened to me since. Thanks fixit!
