Problems with Disk Space and My Office 2010 Fixlet

(imported topic written by bigfix1191)

Guys

I am trying to install office and a lot of our machines have less than 1 GB free space. Normally I bfarchive.exe and package the grouping of files into 1 .tmp file. But in this case its proving troublesome since the extract balloons so much so that it fails in my test environment.

So I would like to download it from a network share if at all possible? Can this be done i.e

waithidden “FILESHARE\OFFICE201” ?

I am not having much luck at present :frowning:

Any help gratefully received.

yes, you can have the bigfix client copy the install off a fileshare, but since the BESClient.exe runs as the local system account, it won’t be able to authenticate to the file share. To work around this issue, you’ll need to create a null file share: http://support.bigfix.com/bes/misc/null_session_share.html

then you can run your “waithidden \fileshare\office2010\setup.exe”. You will need to look into how to make the install silent if you haven’t already (http://forum.bigfix.com/viewtopic.php?pid=36318)

Thanks for the reply - I have set the NULL SHARE up as well

waithidden “\SERVERNAME\NULLSHARE\VMware-viewclient-4.0.1-233023.exe”

I have used VMware View client just as an example - is this the correct way to phrase the fixlet.
