IT security is asking be about the progress of the deployment of MS06-040 and I am currently not able to answer this using Web Reports.
The problem is, that, while selecting the fixlets to report on, there is no drop down list to select the site. It is only a text box “Action Site ()” inside. My test system is working as expected, here it is a drop down list.
I am global Administrator.
Version is 6.0.7.8 (upgraded from 5.1.*)
Identical behavior with IE and Firefox.
I saw this sometimes in the last months, but it was always only a short time effect. Now it is for days and even after a restart of the BES Server.
It sounds like perhaps there is an issue with your web reports cache that became corrupted somehow. You should try clearing your web reports cache and see if that fixes the issue. Also, there are a bunch of web reports fixes in 6.0.12.5 and it would be good to upgrade.
If that doesn’t fix the issue, please open a support ticket and we will fix it.
thanks, reinitialising the cache solved the issue. I choosed option 2 from the knowledge base article 360 (reinitialise on every service start).
For your information:
In some infrastructures, it is not very easy to upgrade to new version, even if it is only a bug- or security patch. I need to write a lot of paper, fill out requests, do tests in a separate environment. And this all is not because we want it this way, it is the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in my special case, which forces me to do so. Based in switzerland, this is hard to accept
I understand your pain, it is the same case here; however sometimes it helps to weed out non-essential upgrades and the environment is more stable as a result…
We definitely understand the change management involved in doing upgrades (and I am sorry if we make it sound otherwise). It is amazing all the different procedures that need to be followed by our financial, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, and other cusomters, but the best we can do is make it as easy as possible to upgrade so at least the technical part will go fast after you do all that paperwork (and try to make the product as stable as possible to minimize the number of upgrades).
And I have heard that other US government agencies are much worse than the FDA in terms of paperwork and process requirements, but I don’t want to offend any of our current government customers so I will not name any names. =)
