Power management setting

(imported topic written by csc39991)

I would like to deploy a setting for power management only at the specified time.(For instance, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.)

How should I do?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks and Regards,

Hi csc399,

Can you give some more information on what you are looking for? Are you asking for a different power management policy between 10pm-5am or do you want to power down systems at 10pm or put them into standby?

And what version of the BigFix Agents do you have?

Ben

I’m using v7.0.1.376.

As you suggested, I 'd like to put systems into standby only from 10pm to 5am.

If possible , It’s better to deploy defferent settings for power management on time shedule.

ex. from 5am to 10pm standby in 10 minutes

from 10pm to 5am in 1 hour

You can do this:

  • Go through the Power Profile Wizard and set the daytime power profile
  • When taking the action, use the “execution” tab to apply during the hours of 5am to 10pm. Make sure to turn on “reapply” behavior.
  • Go through the Power Profile Wizard and set the nighttime power profile
  • When taking the action, use the “execution” tab to apply during the hours of 10:01pm to 4:59am. Make sure to turn on “reapply” behavior.

Hi Ben,

Thank you for the valuable information.

I’ll give it a try.

Hi,

Would GPO overwrite this? or Bigfix would take precedence over GPO?

thanks

It depends on your settings… If you have a BigFix action that is set as a policy, the BigFix Agent will reset the power policies if it sees them change for any reason (including if the user or GPO). But I would try to avoid this situation and so if you are going to use BigFix to set Power Policies, you should not set them in GPO. Also note that BigFix will detect and report on the power settings no matter how they are configured and the information will be incorporated into the power management dashboard and reports.
